Niederegger is one of many brands stocked by the online retailer Chocolates Direct. They’ve got marzipan for all occasions, proving that this almond-sticky delight is not just for Easter or Christmas. It’s no secret that quality chocolate comes from quality ingredients, and the Niederegger brand uses 100% marzipan paste.
Marzipan is traditionally a balance of almonds, sugar and egg. Most consumer marzipan consists of 50% marzipan paste and an additional 50% sugar.
The company is in Lubeck in Germany. And, if you fancy visiting the town hailed the ‘Venice of the Baltic’ you’ll find the brand’s cafe there too, and you can eat cake like this marzipan slice.

Loaves
‘Loaves’ are essentially marzipan bars, covered in chocolate. Here’s the Rum & Raisin loaf, sliced.
Boxed treats
The Mini Bakery Desserts Pralines Selection (112g, £8) takes its inspiration from the New York coffee shop. Flavours include Blueberry Cheesecake, Chocolate Cupcake, Toffee and Tiramisu.
The Black and White Loaf (125g/£4.50) was such a success in 2019 it’s now a more permanent feature. The box of 16 mini-loaves is a combination of white and dark chocolate.
