The Magic Lantern Festival that’s running in Chiswick is an absolute-must. For 2000 years, lanterns have played a large part in Chinese tradition and is an annual event which helps mark and celebrate the arrival of the lunar new year. This year, Chiswick House and Gardens is the focal point for over fifty giant artistic lantern installations. Don’t forget to wrap up warm, all of the lights are outside.
Highlights include:
A 66-metre long dragon; A 10-metre tall, lantern recreation of Beijing’s Temple of Heaven; An 8-metre high, porcelain Imperial Palace lantern and The Terracotta Army.
There’s also food and drink to buy, the Marshmallow stall and fire-pit was great fun for children and adults alike.

It’s worth buying tickets in advance for a £2 discount. Adult tickets bought on the day/night £16. If you book tickets to visit for Monday to Thursday nights you’ll received a 15% discount.
